Very good hotel, not far from city centre, good transport links. Reasonable prices and comfortable rooms. Staff helpful and accommodating. Had a very pleasant stay and will use again.
Top Tip

The hotel is very handy for walking into the centre of Glasgow. The room we were in was in need of a paint and the bathroom required some attention. The wardrobe doors were so noisy we had to leave them open! The food in the restaurant was very disappointing. Breakfast was ok but none of the food was hot. Small portions are served at dinner and it is quite expensive. Don't order handmade chips as they are a rip off! Staff, especially at reception, could be a bit more friendly!

Glasgow is a wonderful city with lots of really good restaurants and plenty of things to do. Menzies Hotel is the ideal location to explore.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I needed to change rooms during my stay and in the process I was upgraded to an executive suite which was a lovely large room.
Try and avoid the rooms at the rear of the hotel overlooking the Marriot as windows cannot be opened.

Try the excellent restaurant Two Fat Ladies in the West End - 5 mins walk from Menzies

The hotel was comfortable and clean and everyone on reception was very pleasant but the restaurant did not open until 6pm and when we went back at that time we were then informed we had to have a table booked, surprise surprise they were able to rustle up a table, the restaurant was not busy the whole hour we were in. We were looked upon like second class citizens, the person who took our order did not make eye contact, I think her name was Louise, the food was ok. On leaving the restaurant we asked for our bill to be charged to our room and was told we either paid cash or left a credit card number, no please or thank you. We were basically frowned upon and looked down on. Unfortunately I did not get his name but the male was young with white/yellow bleached hair, possibly. When we returned to the hotel in the evening we decided to have a drink in the bar but couldn't get served so went to reception to ask for milk to have a hot drink in our room. They had ran out of the small cartons and was asked to get a jug of milk from the bar. We eventually got it, but the barmaid was telling the barman (Vince) not to do table service as they were too busy. He seemed to dismiss this. Breakfast was also a bit of a shambles. We were offered coffee but no toast but every other table had toast. We were allocated a table close to the door and was the main route for people coming in and out for breakfast. We were constantly 'knocked' with people going back and forth. The dishes were almost empty when we went for breakfast, they were replaced, again by 'Louise' and that was before I had to ask her for more plates. No apology, no eye contact just a 'yes'. Possibly she is working in the wrong environment and should maybe work where she has no contact with the public, i.e. in Space. Apart from the lack of courtesy and being made to feel like a dodgy criminal it was ok. Wouldn't recommend or stay again, no matter how cheap.

Toilet would not flush on Friday night so had to get someone to fix it which took half an hour so we had to sit and wait for this to happen before we could go to bed then had same problem in morning. Not what you expected for the price paid no apology when checking out. This was a 4 star hotel.
